November 18 & 19
Julia Farwell Clayis coming! Remember her? There were those two articles written by her in the most recent Spin Off. One about some Custom Wheel Makers in the US. Well, she’s coming here and bringing a huge herd of wheels for you all to try out and touch. These wheels are rare and generally the waiting list to get one is years and the price tags are high. Take this opportunity to get a closer look.

Friday evening Julia will be giving a presentation about custom wheels and
 
Saturday will be an open house where you can touch and play with them all. 

 

On Saturday, bring your own spinny tool and hang out for a fun spin in too!

 

There is no charge for this event but please RSVP if you’re planning on playing so i can make sure to have enough snacks for everybody.

Have you been thinking of one? You may want to come in and see this one.
This wheel was a trade in, made of Cherry, has the flyer on the left and single treadle.
She’s only one year old and was barely used. This wheel sells for $1499 when it is new. You can grab this girl for $1250.
If you need her shipped, I can do that but it will add some money to the price for shipping. Please call for details.

Skeinsgiving
It comes every year. Most other people refer to it as Black Friday or the day after Thanksgiving.We’re gonna party.
There will be sales! Selected wheels will be marked down and priced to sell. These will be floor models so you can try them out first.

The book shelves are bursting and there are some out of print gems as well as some titles people never see. There will be a 20% off sale on certain books that have been hanging around too long.
Some fibers will also be on sale. I’m still accumulating the list of fibers we will be clearing out so stay tuned for a future newsletter.
And the most fun of the day will be a Batt Bar! We’ve got a ginormous basket of fibers we’ve collected over the last 5 years after classes and tiny leftovers and me not picking up after myself. There are some treasures in there. Come in and make your self some batts using one of the three shop drum carders. No charge for anything in the big basket of surprises. If you’d like to supplement with other colors, sparkles or fibers they will all be available for purchase.
Also, snacks!

Olds college Master Spinners Program

I’ve been wanting to do this for some time and am so happy to be able to host the program at the Spinning Loft. The plan is to host all six levels beginning in 2012.

Level 1: July 23-27, 2012

9am-4pm p.m. (daily) $495 CDN + $65 materials fee (payable at time of registration)
Instructor: tba

Registration opens January 2, 2012.
