I feel your pain. But it is also a bit dismaying to read your post and realize that this will not change as time goes on (which I had hoped was the case, since I have toddlers). I love my family, too. But sometimes I can love them more if they give me a little breathing room once in a while.

Alas, Beth, it does not last forever. So may as well enjoy it while you can. Tho I know it can be trying. I remember being in the bathroom and seeing an assortment of little hands & paws reaching under the door.
It's peaceful to be in there now.

So sorry to hear of Anne Field's passing such a shock even though I had heard that she was not at all well. How brave of her to think of teaching at the Summer School this year when she was so ill. I too was booked in to her course hoping to learn many new things from her and to meet such a talented lady would have been a wonderful experience. The Ashford Book of Spinning is our essential reading for all new spinners (and not so new) in our Guild. She will be greatly missed by all us fibre enthusiasts and even more so by all her family, to whom I send by deepest sympathy.

What a beautiful tribute you have written for Anne.
I participated in one class with her at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival and was hoping to attend more in the future. She shared stories about her first attempts by spinning in the grease.
I knew that I was in the presence of fibery greatness.

Beautiful yarn! I love the coloured fibre too.

For provisional cast-on, I always use the crochet one. You don't even need to use a hook, you can just finger-crochet a chain with waste yarn. I suggest using a mercerised cotton yarn as it unzips very easily and won't attach itself to your stitches. I have a very bright ball of yarn leftover from a Haiku cardie I knit for my daughter that I use and reuse for this purpose.

Oh No, Oh my - I knew Anne was very poorly, but I hadn't realised she'd died until I read this post. Thanks for the informative article about her achievements. I was signed up for class with Anne at the UK Guild of WSD Summer School later on this summer, and she sent a lovely email apologising for having to pull out due to her ill health - thinking of others right up to the last weeks of her life. I'm so sad I won't benefit from her knowledge in person but even more impressed with her great stature. She will be sorely missed.

So sad. I took Anne's class at the Spinning Loft and thoroughly enjoyed myself even though I am by no means a native treadle-counter. Many thanks, Beth, for making that workshop happen! RIP, Anne.
